maz dixon
Maz has been doing a special project (read about it here) in which she has been accepting requests for postcards depicting locations anywhere and/or anytime. I asked for a card depicting Hokkaido when the only human inhabitants were the Ainu, and this is what she sent me. I must say, she really did her homework! The bright red Ainu symbols are garish on purpose, as one of the uniting features of her series is the "ghastly and complete inappropriate font" (her words) that often characterize touristy postcards.
